  How many will Jehovah KILL at armageddon?

  well that depends on the world population.. .

  if he had done it it 1914, he would only have killed 2 billion.. if he had done it in 1960, then he would have killed 3 billion.. if he had done it in 1975 ( so now we know why he didn't) he would only have had 4 billion to kill.. so is the question of when armaggedon will come, related to how many he wants to kill?.

  Inbetween: Interesting what you said about Noah. I used to do a bit of carpentry myself. He had his work cut out just building the Ark!

  The chart dipicts the time it took to reach billion milestone. Thats why it apears to have a wrong scale.

  I posted this thread because I am really took with their idea of him exterminating so many billion people,and they can except it just like that: a normal action for a god of love. But I never gave it a thought when I was connected to the collective.

  wobble: thats why it isn't worth even bothering to try and convince them.

  according to the holy wt, satan and his demons influence humans to do bad things.

  as a result of the bad things that satan makes us do, we are going to be judged.

  is that really fair?

  Good point MrFreeze.

  Unfortunately, the test master is an all powerful allknowing, always right god who plans to kill off 7 billion people,

  (even more with the growing world population, if he doesnt hurry up).

  I dont think he'll listen to your arguement.

  i had a friend in the borg that i love and miss (the only one i miss for real) she got married and because she begged me to atttend her wedding i showed up after a loooong time at the kh (that was october 2010, never went back!

  just for her i went that one time!

  well, even though i faded and have almost zero communication w the jws every once in a while we exchage emails, typicall "i miss you" "take care" and "how's your life" kind of stuff.. she is respectful of my decision and never asks to many questions, but i make sure i always let her know i am ok and happy... so, this past weekend i emailed her just to say hello, i check my email today and have this..... "i think about you all the time too free!!.

  Most JWs are miserable most of the time, but the consolation for them is always "Well, my life sucks, but at least I have the truth! Those poor suckers in the world have sucky lives too, and they don't even have the truth!"

  That reminds me of a press reporter who had come back from North Korea.

  He said that the population there knew that life was hard for them.

  But at least it was better than in the outside world.

  my friend called round before and has just left.

  he told me that he was worried about me and that he wanted to speak to me as to why i havnt been going to the meetings or on the field service.

  i told him that im just not discussing the reasons at all.

  Many parents ask the question:

  what would I do if my son (or daughter) tells me he's gay.

  I think that most would accept it as our childrens happiness is the most important thing.

  One would imagine then, that god, as our father, would have the same attitude, since we are made in his image.

  I'm glad that you have found a happy road to be on.

  this recent mother jones article is pretty illuminating as to how defense mechanisms kick in when cherished beliefs are threatened by new information.

  all the responses discussed--discrediting the source, denying the validity of the evidence, etc.--are, no surprise, exactly the strategy employed in wt publications discussing biblical criticism, evolution and other contradictions to the wt worldview.

  what i found interesting was that such emotionally-driven responses feel like rational responses to the individual because the emotion to preserve belief systems kicks in before the analytic response.

  How the WT is able to sell the JW religion

  it's a two-step process, when you think of it.. the first step is to distort certain bible passages, in particular the one pertaining to the 'faithful slave', in order to convince members, and potential converts, that there is only one true religion, one organization that god is using.. once this has been accomplished, they move on to phase two: convincing members and potential converts that they are that 'faithful slave' that god is using.

  they accomplish this by process of elimination, by exposing the false teachings, or what they perceive as such, of all other religions.

  in other words, every other religion is wrong, therefore, theirs must be right.. it is not by the merits of their own religion, or the words and actions of their leaders that jws are convinced they have the truth.

  Welcome AM. I'm from around the same epoque as you, and know only too well the MO.

  Congratulations for easing out. Do try and indulge yourself in astronomy, or what ever you would have liked to have done.

  Its not too late to enjoy life.
